If you are nervous about your boudoir session, congratulations: you are having a completely normal human reaction to doing something vulnerable and unfamiliar.
Most women do not skip into my studio feeling fearless. They worry about their stomach, their arms, their expressions, what to wear, and whether they are somehow the one person I will not know how to photograph.
You are not the exception. And nervous does not mean unready.
You are not expected to perform confidence
Confidence is not an entrance requirement at Marmalade Boudoir. You do not need to practice sexy faces, memorize poses, or give yourself a pep talk convincing enough to erase every insecurity.
Your job is to arrive. My job is to guide you.
I demonstrate every pose and direct your hands, breathing, expression, and body from head to toe. We make one small adjustment at a time. There is no moment when I step back and expect you to suddenly become a professional model.
Say the nervous part out loud
Tell me what is making you anxious. Maybe it is being photographed from a certain angle. Maybe you have an injury, a scar, a part of your body you are struggling with, or a past experience that makes vulnerability complicated.
You never owe me your whole story. But the information you choose to share can help me support you better. Your boundaries are allowed to exist before, during, and after the session.
Let preparation do some of the work
Choose outfits that fit comfortably. Follow the preparation guidance without turning it into a perfection project. Eat something. Drink water. Arrive with enough time that you are not adding frantic traffic energy to ordinary nerves.
Professional hair and makeup gives you time to settle into the studio. We talk, choose your final wardrobe, and let the day become real before the camera comes out.
What if I stay nervous?
You might—for the first few minutes. Then you get busy following simple direction. The unfamiliar thing becomes a series of manageable things: move this hand, breathe here, look toward the light, relax your shoulder.
You do not need to eliminate your fear before doing something meaningful. You can bring it with you. I know what to do from there.
Read what happens during the full Marmalade experience and come exactly as you are.
